Yep. The bug finally knocked on our front door, but all 3 of us are doing well! I do want to say that not everyone has had the same experience as our family. We feel for those individuals and their loved ones who have been impacted in more serious and critical ways.
I do want to share hope and some practical things that helped us through the past week!
Preparation is key!
The past several years we have been proactive about our daily health routines. I truly believe our immune responses handled the virus the way that it did because of that.
- Taking our supplements regularly
- Improving our gut health where our microbiome & majority of our immune system function live
- Balance of whole nutrient dense food and reducing inflammatory food
- Increasing movement/physical activity
- Seeking mental health professionals
- Reducing toxic exposure by switching to more natural household and personal care products
The main point I want to get across is it’s not just one thing that has supported our bodies’ most optimal wellness. It’s multiple things done consistently over time. We’ve each invested the time, resources, and effort to do what’s best for us individually. It’s not easy every day, but I will say that it has paid off.
What we started once exposed!
Ok let’s get into the daily support once we knew we were exposed. What I list below is very specific to us and this information is in no way prescriptive because I am not your health care provider. This is what helped us, so you do what’s best for you and seek out your health care provider for support specific to your health history! I put a lot of time into doing my own research too.
Our daily protocol:
- Started taking NAC and Zinc immediately twice daily & upped our Vitamin D to 10,000 IU daily- click this link for really cool info about what the NAC supplement is and how it works
- Applied essential oils multiple times daily and put in all the diffusers around the house- read more about the benefits of eucalyptus oil and the virus
- Drank plenty of fluids to stay hydrated- we talked about this in last week’s newsletter!
- Ate plenty of nutrient dense food and avoided take out for the first 7 days
- Continued our normal supplement routine in addition to NAC and Zinc
- Ningxia Red 2-4oz/daily
- JuicePlus fruits and veggies supplements
- Cellcore CT-Minerals, Biotoxin Binder and Hydroxygen drops
- I continued my women’s multivitamin Prenatal Pro by Designs For Health
They also carry a great quality NAC, Zinc, Primal Multivitamin (for dudes or non-menstruating) - Probiotics- Life9 by Young Living or Megaspore by Microbiome Lab
- Made sure to get good quality sleep- Sam had the worst of the symptoms and slept for nearly 3 days outside of getting up to eat, drink and take bathroom breaks
- Epsom salt baths with Lavender and Eucalyptus oils to calm the nervous system, promote detoxification, and it just feels nice 🙂
- Gargled with Thieves mouthwash twice daily to fight anything living in our throats- for more info about Young Living products we used click here
How we’re doing today!
Mark and I did not ever develop any symptoms the entire 10 days, outside of feeling fatigue 1 of the days in the beginning. That could have been from anything. Sam had a lot of head/sinus symptoms and did lose his sense of smell and taste. His fever lasted 3 days and never got above 99. His taste returned after 1 week and smell is making its way back. We are all well and back to everyday life.
Below are some studies that have been done on symptomatic vs. asymptomatic cases.
UK Study April 2021
Germany Outbreak Study February 2020
